PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide polybenzazole fiber dyeable in various colors and also excellent in light resistance. SOLUTION: The dyed polybenzazole fiber is such that polybenzazole fiber produced without undergoing a moisture history less than 15% in moisture content is dyed. The dyed polybenzazole fiber is≥50% in mechanical strength retention percentage after irradiated with xenon light(80°C, 50% RH) for 100 h. A method for producing the dyed polybenzazole fiber is also provided, comprising the following process: Polybenzazole filaments produced without undergoing a moisture history less than 15% in moisture content are brought into a staple fiber form in a wet condition≥15% in moisture content, and the resultant staple fiber is kept at≥15% in moisture content without drying and then dyed.
