PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress the decline of a light beam by elevating the output of light, and enhance the electro-optic efficiency, in a low pressure mercury vapor discharge lamp. SOLUTION: The second illuminant (30) of an illuminant composition (10/15) composed of a first illuminant (20) containing a visible light emitting illuminant and the second illuminant (30) with average primary crystallite diameter of <about 100 nm comprises at least one illuminant selected from the group consisting of the visible light emitting illuminant, a vacuum ultraviolet (VUV) light emitting illuminant and a quantum fractionated illuminant. A process (50) for the production of the iluminant composition comprises a step (60) of providing the aforementioned first illuminant, a step (70) of providing the aforementioned second illuminant and a step (80) of arranging the aforementioned second illuminant on the aforementioned first illuminant.
