PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a retractable outer mirror free of the risk of breakage even if a mirror assembly is rotated repetitively. SOLUTION: A groove 22 in the shape of circular arc is formed in a mirror base 2, and a convex part 23 to be inserted into the groove 22 is provided on the mirror assembly 3, in which the ends 24 and 25 of the groove 22 are positioned on the side with a car body more than the center of the groove 22, while the groove 22 is formed so that the forces F1 and F2 acting on the two ends 24 and 25 of the groove 22 when the convex part 23 abuts on the ends 24 and 25 are directed toward the car body.
