A method for weighing a patient in a bed uses a weighing module pushed under each wheel in turn and incorporating a drive, e.g. a spindle drive (20), to push the wheel onto a ramp (5) and lift it into a weighing position. The servo drive has a shaped thrust head to grip the wheel. The weight is determined by an electronic module and transferred to a computing and recording unit. The servo drive can be operated by a servo screwdriver engaging a hexagonal nut (21).
