<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a photographing apparatus capable of individually setting an exposure control condition in a display mode and an exposure condition in a photographing mode. <P>SOLUTION: The photographing apparatus is used for microscope observation or the like, carries out positioning and focusing in the display mode wherein a user observes a moving picture on an LCD monitor 91, is switched to the photographing mode by operating a photographing button 921 to photograph a still picture. Then an operation/display section 9 can individually set the exposure control condition appropriate to the display mode and the exposure control condition appropriate to the photographing mode.
