PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of installing a nonpolarizable electrode allowing precise high-density measurement by specific resistance survey and IP method survey, and allowing monitoring therefor, in a wall face such as a gateway and a tunnel, and a greatly inclined bed rock or ground such as a geological outcrop. SOLUTION: The nonpolarizable electrode is installed bondingly to the bed rock or ground, using gypsum mixed with a salt same to that used in the nonpolarizable electrode, or a salt nontoxic to an environment, in this method of the present invention, and a potential is measured while restraining a polarization reaction generated in the nonpolarizable electrode and in the periphery thereof. The nonpolarizable electrode is installed by drilling a hole a little larger than an outside diameter of the nonpolarizable electrode, and by making the gypsum flow thereinto to fix the electrode.
