PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic head excellent in floating stability, and also to provide a manufacturing method thereof. SOLUTION: On the medium-facing surface 18a of a head slider 18, a rear center rail 32 is formed in a position which is on the side of an air flow out end 18TR and which is nearly in a center in the width direction of the head slider. An air bearing surface 32a of the rear center rail 32 is roughened to the surface 22a of an adjacent element part 22. Moreover, lubricated layers 36 and 38 are constituted on the air bearing surface 32a and the adjacent element part 22a.
