Provided are an insulated container providing improved insulated properties, and an improved and simple method of fabricating the same to easily seal a cup and a shell. The insulated container(10) for hot drinks or the like comprises: an inner cup(12) having a generally frusto-conical cup body; a generally frusto-conical outer shell(14); a thermo-sealable plastic coating on at least one of the inside of the shell and the outside of the cup body; the cup seated within the shell so that the coating extends at least along a contact path near the upper edge of the shell along which contact path outer surface of the cup body and inner surface of the shell are in contact. At least one bonding spot and/or bonding area for bonding the shell to the cup body is locally formed only within the contact path by the plastic coating.
