摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a PEFC with remarkably improved durability performance by determining an optimal range of an additional amount of a water repellent material in a catalyst layer and by determining an optimal range of a void content of the catalyst layer. <P>SOLUTION: This catalyst layer for the polymer electrolyte fuel cell comprises a mixture containing a carbon material, a cation exchange resin and a catalyst metal and a fluororesin without an ion exchange group. In the mixture, the catalyst metal is mainly supported in a contact surface of the carbon material and a proton conduction path of the cation exchange resin, a ratio of the fluororesin without the ion exchange group to the carbon material is 30 to 60 mass%, and the void content is 60 to 85%. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
