PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a small stepping motor which can be processed and assembled easily. SOLUTION: The stepping motor comprises a rotor 13 having a permanent magnet 12 magnetized with multi-poles in the thrust direction and secured to a rotating shaft 11, bearings 14 and 15 for supporting the rotor 13 rotatably, a housing 16 for securing the bearings 14 and 15 while keeping at predetermined positions and formed to surround the rotor, and stators 17-20 having a U-shaped core wound with a coil and fixed to the bearings 14 and 15. The bearings 14 and 15 are provided with slits (14a and 14d, 14b and 14c, 15a and 15d, 15b and 15c) substantially in truncated reverse V-shape, and the stators 17-20 are inserted into the slits and positioned in place.
