PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an engine operation device in a portable working machine, with the manipulability of a throttle lever improved while preventing a run on phenomenon or the like. SOLUTION: This engine operation device in the portable working machine is provided with an engine 8, a work device 9 connected to the engine 8, and an operating means arranged in an operable part during operation by the work device 9 and operating the engine. The operating means has a first operation implement 18 for operating the throttle valve of the engine 8 within a range from full closure to full opening, a switch 39 for changing over the engine to a movable condition or a stopping condition, and a second operation implement 19 for operating the switch. The second operation implement 19 is formed that the operating position of the first operation implement 18 is regulated within a predetermined range when the switch 39 is operated to the movable condition of the engine 8 and the fully closing operation of the throttle valve by the first operation implement 18 is allowed when the switch 39 is operated to the stopping condition of the engine 8.
