PHTHALOCYANINE BLACK PIGMENT AND USE THEREOF

An excellent phthalocyanine black pigment that can be produced at low cost, being usable as a substitute for carbon black; and an epoxy resin composition for semiconductor sealing that excels in laser marking performance, not being detrimental to the functions of semiconductor. There is provided a phthalocyanine black pigment obtained by reacting a perchlorinated metal phthalocyanine with 2-aminothiophenol in the presence of a base, wherein in an absorption spectrum diagram obtained by measuring of a 2.7×10^-3 %(w/v) solution in N,N-dimethylacetamide at a transmitted light path length of 10 mm, exhibits absorption over the region of 400 nm to 1200 nm and exhibits a ratio, ?_b/?_a in which ?_a is the minimum value of absorbance in the visible region of 400 nm to 750 nm while ?_b is the maximum value of absorbance in the near infrared region of 750 nm to 1200 nm, of 1.0 to 2.0. Further, there is provided an epoxy resin composition for semiconductor sealing loaded with this phthalocyanine black pigment.
