An RFID(Radio Frequency Identification) tag and an RFID reader for preventing collision and their operation method are provided to prevent collision generated when tag data is transmitted from a plurality of RFID tags, and quickly read an RFID tag. A tag receiving unit(230) receives a tag recognition signal from an RFID reader. A tag transmission unit(210) transmits a response signal to the tag recognition signal and tag data. A mode switching unit(240) switches the current mode to a certain mode. When the response signal is transmitted predetermined times by the tag transmitter(210), a tag controller(250) controls the mode switching unit(240) to switch the mode.
