PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a camera module designed such that dust, disturbance light, etc., are shut out effectively and, furthermore, a thin housing is achieved, while realizing advanced high functions such as focusing adjustment function. SOLUTION: The camera module includes, an imaging element 1, optical members 4 and 9 that have frame parts 6 and 11 respectively for holding lenses 5 and 10 respectively, an operation member 18 for controlling the positions of the optical members 4 and 9, and a drive means 32 for driving the operation member 18. Each element is accommodated in a housing 33. In the imaging element 1, the imaging surface 2 is surrounded by a wall part 3. The operation member 18 displaces the optical members 4 and 9 so that the lenses 5 and 10 are retracted from an optical axis, passing through the imaging face 2. Additionally, in the state where the lenses 5 and 10 are located on the optical axis, the operation member 18 displaces the optical members 4 and 9 along the optical axis so that parts of the optical members 4 and 9 thrust into an area inside the wall part 3.
