PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide facsimile equipment which does not burden excessive expense to a communication partner by allowing a CNG signal during transmission of an answer message to be detected even when there is sneaking of the answer message from a telephone line. SOLUTION: The facsimile equipment has a message reproduction part 12 which transmits the answer message to the telephone line via a DA converter 13 and a line part 2 when a calling signal arrives, an echo cancellation part 14 which cancels an echo of sneaking of the answer message from the telephone line, a amplification part 16 which amplifies a voice signal from the echo cancellation part 14, a CNG detection part 17 which detects CNG signals at a predetermined level or higher from the voice signal amplified by the amplification part 16 and a control part 4 which lowers a degree of amplification of the amplification part 16 until completion of transmission of the answer message.
