PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device capable of achieving low power consumption even when made large-sized and having higher resolution, and a large liquid crystal display device using the same. SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display device has a first substrate (transparent substrate 103), a second substrate (transparent substrate 103) opposed to the first substrate (transparent substrate 103), liquid crystal 101 held between the first substrate (transparent substrate 103) and second substrate (transparent substrate 103), a driving circuit 301 which is provided for each pixel on the first substrate (transparent substrate 103) and drives the liquid crystal 101, and a light power generating element 201 which is provided for each pixel or every plurality of pixels and supplies generated electric power to drive the liquid crystal.
