PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tool extension and contraction device capable of adjusting its overall length and saving labor of operation. SOLUTION: This tool extension and contraction device includes a rod body 20 on one end of which a driving end 22 to drive a work is provided and on the other end of which a fitting end 23 to fit and connect a handle 30 is provided and the handle, it also includes a ring groove 40 for normal position, an expansion ring 50 and an engaging recessed part 60, the ring groove for normal position is formed on a peripheral surface of the rod body, the expansion ring is set free to connect and disconnect in the ring groove for normal position and makes contact with an inner wall surface of the handle when it expands, the engaging recessed part is formed on the inner wall surface of the handle, the expansion ring is engaged with the engaging recessed part, the expansion ring is pressurized on the inner wall surface of the handle and comes to be in a compressed state and when the handle is pulled to the opposite side of the driving end of the rod body, the engaging recessed part meets with the expansion ring and they are engaged with each other.
