TRANSFORMED SHIGELLA

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for modifying an entero-invasive Shigella that can be used for making a vaccine against the wild strain of Shigella. SOLUTION: The modified Shigella is obtained by transforming so that a first gene encoding a first protein necessary for invasion of the wild strain of Shigella into host cells and tissues and a second gene encoding a second protein necessary for spread of the wild strain of Shigella within the infected cells of the host and between the infected cells and uninfected cells can be inactivated or deleted.
