A sheet-feed element (4) consists of austenitic steel with its surface hardened by kolsterizing or corrosion resistant surface hardening of austenitic stainless steel on its side (10) facing material to be printed. Steel is rust-free. The sheet feed element fits with a small clearance from a transfer drum's (2) surface area (3). An independent claim is also included for a method for producing a sheet-feed element for a printing machine.
