A test device and a test method of a backlight unit for an LCD are provided to quickly notify a user of a defect of the backlight unit by accurately and automatically measuring a brightness of light leaked to a rear surface of the backlight unit. A sensing unit(150) is disposed at a rear surface of the backlight unit, and senses a brightness of light leaked from a reflective sheet of the backlight unit. A level detecting unit(160) detects a voltage level varying according to the brightness of the sensed light. A controller(170) determines whether the voltage level falls within a reference range preset by a user. A notifying unit(180) outputs a notifying signal according to a determination result of the controller. |
