PLASMA DISPLAY PANEL AND OPERATING METHOD THEREOF

A plasma display panel and a driving method of the same are provided to increase largely an aperture ratio of a discharge cell by forming a sustain electrode and a scan electrode with barrier ribs. A front substrate(20) and a rear substrate(10) are disposed opposite to each other. A plurality of address electrodes(12) are formed on the rear substrate. A plurality of barrier ribs(16) are positioned between the front and rear substrates and are extended across the address electrodes in order to form a plurality of discharge cells(18). A first and second sustain electrodes(23a,23b) are positioned alternately within the barrier ribs. The discharge cells are positioned between pairs of scan electrodes(25). A dielectric layer(14) is disposed to bury the address electrodes. Phosphor layers(19) are formed within the discharge cells.
