DIGITAL BROADCAST RECORD/PLAY DEVICE SHORTENING TIME OF AUTOMATIC CHANNEL SEARCH AND AUTOMATIC CHANNEL SEARCH METHOD

A digital broadcasting program recording/reproducing apparatus for reducing an automatic channel search time and an automatic channel searching method are provided to omit search of analog broadcasting channel signals when a digital broadcasting channel signal exists for a predetermined channel number to decrease a search time. A digital broadcasting program recording/reproducing apparatus(100) for reducing an automatic channel search time includes a digital broadcast searching unit and an analog broadcast searching unit. The digital broadcast searching unit sequentially checks synchronization signals of digital broadcasting channels corresponding to the first channel number through the final channel number to determine whether there are synchronization signals. When there is a digital broadcasting channel for which a synchronization signal is detected by the digital broadcast searching unit, the analog broadcast searching unit omits an analog broadcasting channel corresponding to the digital broadcasting channel for which the synchronization signal is detected by the digital broadcast searching unit and checks the next broadcasting channel.
