IMAGE PROCESSING TYPE VEHICLE DETECTION DEVICE AND IMAGE PROCESSING TYPE VEHICLE DETECTION METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing type vehicle detection device and method capable of removing the influence of a headlight beam, thereby stably detecting the head position of a vehicle when the vehicle is photographed from the front side.

SOLUTION: This image processing type vehicle detection device is provided with: a head detecting means 121 for detecting vehicle candidate rectangles showing a vehicle location from a photographic image obtained by photographing a vehicle on a road, and for detecting the head position of the vehicle; a headlight lighting deciding means 123 for deciding the lighting of the headlight of the vehicle; and a head detecting/correcting means 122 for correcting the head position of the vehicle based on the result of the head detecting means 121 and the headlight lighting deciding means 123.
