<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manufacturing method for an inkjet recording medium which is excellent in ink absorbency, surface gloss and image quality, and which prevents the appearance of a microcrack. <P>SOLUTION: In this manufacturing method for the inkjet recording medium, after the application of the coating liquid containing a polymeric emulsion and an organic solvent, a coating layer is pressure-bonded to a heated and mirror-finished metallic surface while the coating layer is in a wet state, and a surface of the coating layer is made glossy. The polymeric emulsion contains a polymer (A) exhibiting hydrophilicity in an area of a temperature as high as/lower than a specified temperature (temperature sensing point), and exhibiting hydrophobicity in an area of a temperature exceeding the temperature sensing point. In the organic solvent, a solubility parameter (SP value) is in the range of 10-13 (cal/cm<SP>3</SP>)<SP>1/2</SP>, and a vapor pressure at 20°C is 40 mmHg or less.
