<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent capacitor cells connected in series from being excessively charged, prevent the cells from being degraded, uniformly charge the cells, utilize a cell capacitance at the maximum, and efficiently charge the cells. <P>SOLUTION: A capacitor bank 60 comprises a plurality of the capacitor cells C1-C16 as the electric double layer capacitor cells connected in series. A charging power supply 52 and a charging control section 64 charge the capacitor bank 60 with a constant current until a charge voltage of the capacitor bank 60 attains a predetermined value. The capacitor bank 60 is charged with constant power until one of the capacitor cells C1-C16 finishes charging since the charge voltage of the capacitor bank 60 attains the predetermined value. When one of the capacitor cells finishes charging, a bias circuit 61 corresponding to the capacitor cell is actuated, a charge current is bypassed, and the capacitor bank is charged with a constant current. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
