摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the fuel economy of a hybrid car by reducing a power loss during EV traveling and regenerative traveling. <P>SOLUTION: This controller of the hybrid car comprises an engine, a second generator, and at least two sets of planetary gear mechanisms. The controller can set a low speed mode, an intermediate speed mode, and a high speed mode. Furthermore, the controller comprises a traveling state determination means (step S2) determining that the hybrid car travels with its prime mover stopped and an intermediate speed mode prohibition means (step S3) prohibiting the intermediate speed mode when the hybrid car is determined to travel with its prime mover stopped.
