<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technology capable of displaying JPEG2000 compressed image data at a high speed in a server/client environment and executing print, storage or upload with a small memory capacity at a high speed. <P>SOLUTION: A request issue section 101 at a client side in an information processing system issues a request for designating a processing function selected by a processing function selection section 100. A request interpretation section 111 at a server side recognizes a processing function selected by the client side. A stream type negotiation section 112 selects a JPP-stream when the processing function indicates display, or selects a JPT-stream when the processing function is print, storage or upload.
