<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To save energy without inconveniencing users in a wrist watch device in which a stepping motor for hand operation and a generating device are housed together. <P>SOLUTION: In this clock device 1 in which the generating device 40 for capturing kinetic energy through the use of a rotary weight and generating power is built, it is detected by a generation state detection part 91 whether the generating device 40 is generating power or not, and time display is halted by shifting to power-saving mode when a non-generation time exceeds a prescribed time. When power generation is detected by the generation state detection part 91, and a power source voltage is equal to a prescribed value or higher, time display is restarted by returning to display mode. Since the generating device 40 using the rotary weight generates power by capturing the movements of an arm of a user, it is possible to highly accurately determine whether the clock device 1 is carried or not on the basis of the presence or absence of power generation, continue time display at night and in winter season when carried, and save power by halting time display even if it is bright when carried. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
