PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the power consumption of a display device which performs a display by moving a liquid between electrodes. SOLUTION: Surface active dielectric particles 18 are mixed in a colored liquid 17. When an electric voltage is applied between both backside electrode plates 10 and 11, the surface active dielectric particles 18 is moved by the force of an electric field, eventually the oleophic film 20 of the surface active dielectric particles 18 is attached on the surface of a back face side water repellency film 5, the colored liquid 17 is spread and attached over the whole surface of the back face side water repellency film 5, and a white display state is realized by the scatter on a rugged part 3. When an electric voltage is likewise applied between both surface side electrode plates 8 and 9, eventually the the oleophic film 20 of the surface active dielectric particles 18 are attached on the surface of a surface side water repellency film 4, the colored liquid 17 is spread and attached over the whole surface of a surface side water repellency film 4, and a color display state is achieved because the scatter on the rugged part 3 does not take place.
