The unit has a base including retainers for different lighting units, where the retainers (2) are designed as cavities, in which electrodes for supplying current to the lighting units are extended. The cavities penetrate the wall of the base, and a separate vacuum-tight, transparent and translucent cover (5) covers the cavities of the base. The base and covers are made from pressed glass. An independent claim is also included for a method of manufacturing a lamp unit.
