The cooled return device is for an engine (2) with an induction manifold (6) including a charge air compressor (7) and an exhaust manifold (3) including a charge air cooler (8), and also with an exhaust gas return line (10) containing a gas cooler (12). An exhaust gas compressor (13) is fitted in the exhaust gas return line to take the returned exhaust gas to the induction manifold downstream of the charging air cooler.
