Provided are an information similarity discrimination device and an information similarity discrimination method, which can easily retrieve program information like that of a reference song desired by the user. The information similarity discrimination device comprises featuring information acquisition means for acquiring, in plural pieces of program information recorded in a recording medium, first featuring information indicating the feature of the first program information for the reference and second featuring information indicating the feature of at least one piece of second program information other than the first program information, similarity discrimination means for discriminating whether or not a similarity is between the first program information and the second program information, by comparing the first featuring information and the second featuring information, and storage means for storing, on the basis of the discrimination result of the similarity, the second program information as either the program information having a similarity to the first program information or the program information having no similarity.
