<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a data communication apparatus and method for enabling communication with a device on an IEEE1394 compliant communication network without providing a 1394 interface in an external device with a communication scheme different from that of the communication network. <P>SOLUTION: Communication is performed with a first external device connected with a first interface unit via a data bus, communication is performed with a second external device connected with a second interface unit, an operating mode of the second external device is detected and in accordance with a result of this detection, the communication with the first external device is judged invalid and controlled. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
