PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a cleaning device whose cleaning ability is high so as to achieve stable electrification in a next stage charging process. SOLUTION: In the cleaning method for a photoreceptor drum 1, a light transmissive brush 8b is disposed on a transparent sleeve 8a rotatably arranged, and the sleeve 8a is rotated, so that the brush 8b slides in contact with the surface of the photoreceptor drum 1 and removes residual toner, and also light is transmitted to the light transmissive brush 8b from the inside of the sleeve 8a, whereby the photoreceptor is discharged with the light.
