PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a closing method, and a closing machine capable of maintaining the detection accuracy of a sensor. SOLUTION: The closing machine for closing a work 9 by pressing a heated die 4 against the rotating work 9 comprises an air purge box 510 to be opened facing a part in a vicinity of the work 9, and an air feed means to feed air to the air purge box 510.
