The bearing system comprises a bearing bush (2) and a seal (9). The bush has a profiled end (18) with a peripheral groove (19), against which a first lip (15) on the seal fits. A second lip (16) fits against a vertical wall (20) at the end of the groove furthest from the first lip. Independent claims are included for: (A) the seal; and (B) universal joints fitted with several of the bearing systems.
