An actuator enabling a remarkable reduction in the dimensions of the mounting part thereof and the installation of standard control devices such as drive motors and position sensors on the outside thereof, a parallel link mechanism using the actuator, and a long material bending device. The actuator comprises a trunnion type universal joint formed of a mounting shaft, a holding member, and a rotating block having a nut, a ball screw threadedly inserted into the nut of the universal joint and operably connected to a drive part to advance and retreat the nut, and a ball screw guide disposed in the universal joint to guide the ball screw in the advancing and retreating directions.
