A mechanical brake mechanism (15) stays in effective connection with the mover and has a braking torque that is fixedly adjusted in the brake position. The electrical engine brake and the mechanical brake mechanism are combinably operated to produce an adjustable brake torque for deceleration of the truck.</p>
