An apparatus 1 for supporting the upper body of a user, e.g. a mechanic working on a vehicle, comprises a frame 3 having a lower portion 3B arranged to support the apparatus on the ground, and an upper portion 3A which supports a soft, wipe clean support pad 10 upon which the user may rest their upper torso whilst standing. The support pad 10 is preferably mounted to the upper portion 3A via a support member 4A,B attached to the upper portion. The pad 10 can be pivotally mounted to the support member by a reversible ratchet mechanism 13. The support member 4A,B may offer telescopic height adjustment. The different portions of the frame may be folded against one another such that the support pad lies adjacent or within the frame. A storage pouch 14 may be provided on the underside of the support pad. Protective pads may provided 16A,B. |
