A limiting current type gas sensor of the present invention includes: a solid electrolyte (12, 22, 42) having oxygen ion conductivity; a gas diffusion rate control member (14, 24, 44) for controlling the diffusion rate of a surrounding gas; an inner electrode (16, 28, 48) arranged on the solid electrolyte (12, 22, 42) within an inner space covered by the gas diffusion rate control member (14, 24, 44); and an outer electrode (18, 26, 46) arranged at an outer surface of the solid electrolyte (12, 22, 42) outside the inner space. At least one of the inner electrode (16, 28, 48) and the outer electrode (18, 26, 46) is made of metal particles, the primary material of the metal particles being at least one metal element selected from a group consisting of metals belonging to the platinum group, gold, silver and nickel, and at least outer surfaces of the metal particles contain bismuth. |
