Safety for a weapon feed system

A safety mechanism for the firing pin (12) of a weapon, while ammunition (14) is being fed into the breech, has a number of safety bolts (30) distributed around it with radial movement through the lower section (22) of the ammunition. A spring unit (60) in a beating weight (40) holds them firmly axially. When the ammunition is rammed home into a ring groove (18), the spring force is overcome to clear the firing pin path to strike the primer at the base of the ammunition.
