A method of determining geographical location, the method comprising taking a picture of a sign 10; and analysing the picture data to extract a location code which is indicative of a geographical location. Alternatively the location code may be input via a user input device such as a keypad (20, fig.3). A plurality of signs 10 are distributed in the environment, each sign 10 including a two-dimensional barcode 12 representing a location code which is indicative of the geographical location of the respective sign 10. The signs 10 are distributed by receiving a sign request from a client (8, fig.1); and transmitting location code information to the client in response to the sign request to enable the client to print a sign using the location code information. The location code may be encoded as a Gray Code in a binary or non-binary format. |
