A controller for a vehicle has a status indicating device 16 indicating for example vehicle orientation, temperature, motion or occupancy; said devices may be mounted on controller responsive devices 12, 13, 14. The status indication is one of a plurality of predetermined modes. The status indication device is characterised by three or more discrete status 'levels', these levels may be defined bands having upper and lower thresholds. The status levels may be determined from for example, impedance applied across the indicating device. The indicating device may monitor, a seat pressure, backrest angle and seat height. The response mode of the controller responsive devices 12, 13, 14 is predetermined dependent on the status indication. The thresholds of the control bands may be programmed to allow the user to tailor the system 10 to their requirements, for example slowing or inhibiting movement dependent on the indicated status levels. |
