It is intended to provide a composition having effects of protecting liver functions and preventing disorders against liver function disorders caused by various factors and being excellent in safety. It is found out that oxidized coenzyme Q has a liver function protective effect without containing selenium and that reduced coenzyme Q has a stronger liver function protective effect. Namely, liver functions can be protected by using a composition which contains, as the main component, oxidized coenzyme Q containing less than 0.01% by weight of selenium or reduced coenzyme Q. Thus, a composition having a high safety and exhibiting an excellent effect contributing health maintenance can be provided. |
