A spindle unit of heavy-duty lathe contains a spindle installed in radial and axial hydrostatic bearings, power sources connected with the pockets of bearings, a distributor with control system, output channels of which are connected with the pockets of radial bearings, and input channels - with corresponding power sources, a sensor of the cutting force connected with the control system of distributor. The unit is equipped with antifriction bearing, and auxiliary axle bearing is executed with a floating self-adjusting bushings installed in the cavities of housing of auxiliary bearing.
