<p>In order to cut sheet glass (20) with the aid of laser radiation, a collimated laser beam (10) is directed onto the glass plate (20) that is to be cut and is reflected on a reflective surface (26) located below the glass plate (20). The reflected laser beams are reflected back onto the glass plate (20) in the form of two bundles (30) of laser beams with the aid of a reflector (6) which is disposed at the top (2) of the laser and is provided with a passage (8) for the collimated laser beam (10) as well as two cavity-shaped, elongate mirror surfaces (12). A microcrack is created in the glass plate (20) by means of the collimated laser beam (10) without heating the glass plate (20). Heated zones (22) are created on both sides of the microcrack by means of the laser beam bundles (30) that are reflected by the reflective surfaces (12) on the reflector (6). The microcrack is opened across the entire thickness of the glass plate (20) under the effect of the resulting thermal stresses, and the glass plate (20) is cut.</p> |
