<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fuel cell system capable of suppressing deterioration of a carbon material and drop in fuel cell performance caused by the deterioration of the carbon material, practical, having high performance and high durability. <P>SOLUTION: The fuel cell system is equipped with a polymer electrolyte fuel cell having a fuel electrode and an air electrode, and a first CO<SB>2</SB>concentration control means controlling the CO<SB>2</SB>concentration on the air electrode side. The CO<SB>2</SB>concentration control means preferably controls the CO<SB>2</SB>concentration on the air electrode side to 10,000 ppm or less. The first CO<SB>2</SB>concentration control means preferably supplies CO<SB>2</SB>to the air electrode side when the polymer electrolyte fuel cell is in an open circuit state and operation temperature is 60°C or higher. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
