PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To execute stable and highly reliable distortion compensation with a feedforward amplifier having a distortion detection part 1, which detects a distortion signal from an amplified signal by amplifying a signal as an amplification target with a main amplifier 14, and a distortion elimination part 2 for eliminating the detected distortion signal from the amplified signal. SOLUTION: In the distortion detection part, the following procedures are executed. Vector adjustment means 12, 13 of the distortion detection part execute vector adjustment to the signal amplified by the main amplifier. A distortion level detection means 24 detects a level of the distortion signal detected by the distortion detection part. A control means 3 controls the vector adjustment executed by the vector adjustment means of the distortion detection part so that the level of the distortion signal to be detected becomes small. The control means 3 stops the control corresponding to the state that the level of the distortion signal becomes below a first threshold.
