PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To facilitate visual inspection of required map information without reducing an amount of information of map information to be displayed on a screen. SOLUTION: An image information display device 1 concerning this invention has a position detection means 2 for detecting positions, a recording means 6 for recording map image information and the map information, a map image information extraction means 10 for extracting the map image information detected by the position detection means 2 from the recording means 6, the map information extraction means 10 for extracting the map information detected by the position detection means 2 from the recording means 6, a distance calculation means 10 for calculating distance from the positions detected by the position detection means 2 to each piece of extracted map information, a screen information creation means 10 for creating screen information by sequentially superposing and displaying pieces of map information in order from map information whose distance calculated by the distance calculation means 10 is furthest and a display means 8 for displaying the screen information created by the screen information creation means.
