PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a wheelchair-accommodating device of extension and contraction type which shows high flexibility of operation by expanding the device during use, enables the storage by folding the device and the accommodation of the wheelchair by power, and is stored in a compact manner. SOLUTION: The wheelchair-accommodating device of extension and contraction type comprises a movable pole 2A vertically movable to a fixed pole 3B and a movable arm 2A slidable to a fixed arm 2B. Since the upper end part of the movable pole 2A and the neighborhood of the rear end of the fixed arm 2B are pivotally attached by a pivot 8, both movable parts 2A, 3A extend and contract, and an arm part 2 is folded by the pivot 8 to a pole part 3. Consequently, the wheelchair-accommodating device is freely extended during the use and houses the wheelchair by freely corresponding to the position of the wheelchair. Since the wheelchair-accommodating device becomes compact by shortening and folding both the pole part 3 and the arm part 2, the storing capacity of a luggage room is not reduced.
